Gaming representation began in the 1990s with the enactment of the Texas Racing Act and has expanded over the years to include charitable bingo and other gaming issues. Our attorneys have represented several major pari-mutuel racetracks in the state, a publicly-traded company owning casinos and tracks in multiple North American jurisdictions, the largest licensed charitable bingo commercial lessor in Texas, as well as several national manufactures of gaming equipment.
Representative Matters:
- Represented several applicants in contested case pari-mutuel horse and greyhound racetrack licensing proceedings before the Texas Racing Commission
- Prosecuted and defended several appeals of Texas Racing Commission decisions in racetrack licensing contested cases
- Obtained regulatory approval from the Texas Racing Commission of several change in ownership applications for licensed racetracks
- Represented licensed racetracks in a variety of licensing, rulemaking, simulcasting, and race date allocation matters before the Texas Racing Commission
- Filed amicus briefs on behalf of gaming clients with the Attorney General of Texas in connection with opinion requests regarding matters of interest in the industry
- Represented a national manufacturer of charitable bingo electronic equipment in licensing, rulemaking, and disciplinary proceedings before the Texas Lottery Commission
- Advised a lender considering regulatory and commercial issues surrounding the financing of a gaming company in Texas
- Represented one of the largest manufacturers of gaming equipment in the nation on Texas gaming laws
- Represented the largest licensed charitable bingo commercial lessor in the state in a variety of licensing, rulemaking, and administrative investigations before the Texas Lottery Commission
- Advised gaming clients in connection with Texas Lottery Commission advisory opinions
- Advised several gaming clients regarding legislative issues and draft legislation
